Introduction to Meditation
Friday February 17th from 6:00-7:30pm
Sometimes meditation is a connection to all your senses in the present moment. Or following a thought on a journey to the unknown. Sometimes meditation is a one pointed focus on something such as a soft glowing candle flame. Or invoking sound through mantra to help create a sense of peace.
Meditation, a practice that has been around for thousands of years, has captured the interest of modern day scientists. Studies have shown that developing a meditation practice can reduce stress, anxiety, help quiet the mind, among many other healthy benefits.
Join Sheri Breen for this opportunity to explore different types of meditation practices. She will lead you through several mini meditation exercises (with breaks in between), incorporate some pranayama (breathwork) and then end the practice with a guided meditation for relaxation and wellness.
This practice is open to all levels. It will provide those newer to meditation with a framework of how to meditate and provide seasoned practitioners a way to deepen and further explore their personal practice.
Sheri is a Registered Yoga Teacher (and a graduate of The Yoga Loft's Teacher Training Program) who has studied and practiced many types of meditation for over thirteen years. For additional information, please go to www.shimmeringshantiyoga.com.
Cost is just $15.00.
Alignment Workshop with Kristin Olson February 25th from 12:00-2:00 p.m
Ever wonder what actually happens between chaturanga and upward facing dog?
Come find out in this alignment-based workshop where we will dissect and perfect
the different poses in 'the' vinyasa, which is so prevalent in our practice, and
how these poses flow together safely. We will go over modifications that will
help you build strength quickly and discuss the bad habits that could be causing
shoulder or low back pain.
Come see how you can fine tune your vinyasa so you
can continue to practice for the rest of your life. Great for beginner and
intermediate students.
