300 Hour RYT Program

You already know how to teach. You love Yoga and can’t get enough of it. Now it’s time to take your teaching and practice to the next level with the 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with HOME Yoga and The Yoga Loft and receive your RYT – 500 certification.
Over the course of 10 weekends from Sept. to June, you’ll refine and challenge your knowledge of precise alignment, intelligent sequencing, anatomy, injury prevention, hands-on assisting, daily meditation, and ancient yoga philosophy and history, and, of course, teaching. You’ll refine your time management skills, ability to change your sequence on the fly and understanding of the bodies in, and energy of, the room. You’ll have the opportunity to observe classes and read the room from a different point of view by assisting live classes, getting hands-on practical experience. We’ll explore in more depth Restorative, Yin, Beginners, Ayurveda, the Subtle Body, meditation.

To deepen your practice as a consummate learner, each Saturday and Sunday will include rigorous asana designed to explore advanced postures as well as three hours of philosophy and history discussion on Friday nights. In depth posture labs will allow you to see and pinpoint the differences in tight bodies verses more flexible bodies. In addition, you’ll analyze and discuss strategies for commanding the room whether you are teaching beginners, seniors, injured or pregnant students, or even those who distract and challenge the teaching environment. An entire weekend, and then some, is dedicated to anatomy, led by board certified athletic trainer and yoga teacher Caitlin Goffman.

You’ll have direct access to both Kristin Olson and Jen Ryan, who for more than a decade have been teaching several classes a week and have a real pulse on the many obstacles that a teacher faces on a regular basis. It’s time to find your own voice, become a leader in your field and have the ability to lead workshops, retreats and specialized yoga classes.

  • 40 classes with approved senior teachers Kristin (4 classes/month)
  • Assist 10 classes
  • Teach 3 community classes

Past 300 Hour RYT Testimonials:

Taking Kristin’s TT is a gift to yourself and to your students. Kristin will nurture your role as teacher, and you will become more confident sharing yourself and your love of yoga with students. You will learn the art of skillful sequencing to help your students progress safely in their asana practice and leave your classes with a sense of clarity and balance. Kristin will encourage your study of the yoga sutras to deepen your own practice and help you impart the subtle aspects of yoga into your teaching.
Teacher training weekends are fun and thought provoking, thanks to Kristin’s passion and talent for clearly communicating and teaching yoga philosopy, anatomy, and sequencing. I am so glad I participated in HOME Yoga’s 300 Hour TT, and I am grateful to Kristin for enriching my practice and my teaching.
There is an Aristotle quote displayed at the studio and on the TT page that summarizes perfectly Kristin’s approach, and inspires me to do the same: “We are all what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Karen KWhat a truly wonderful program! Kristin’s Teacher Training at Home Yoga has greatly enriched my knowledge and experience of yoga which will serve me as both a teacher and a student.
Kristin created a supportive and rigorous environment that encouraged us to think deeply, participate actively, ask questions and be unafraid to share our experiences. As we covered the many important aspects of teaching – alignment, sequencing, philosophy, anatomy and assisting – we were immediately given opportunities to integrate the knowledge and apply it. Each training weekend was structured to encourage us to work hard (and we did!), yet we left feeling invigorated. It says so much about Kristin’s gift as a teacher that she is able to deliver a detailed, thoughtful training program, while simultaneously creating a supportive and close-knit community.
I will greatly miss our training weekends together, and am so grateful to have been part of this very special program.

Sian WEverything I wanted to get out of this training, I did. This training program will definitely advance and deepen your knowledge. I highly recommend it!

our teachers in training are saying ...

It is an honor to be considered a yogis' teacher, one that Jen Ryan has embraced and taken with the full hearted seriousness, love and devotion that most take with their own children and that is perhaps why year after year her studio is filled with yogis coming to be certified some are filled with the motivation to teach and for others it's part of their personal journey. No matter the intention Jen embraces every student with the same passion.

I recently completed the Yoga Loft 200 hour Teacher Training program.   This program was everything I was looking for and so much more.  I would describe the program as comprehensive, challenging, & life changing.  The curriculum was an excellent balance of  reading & discussion about the philosophy & history of yoga practice,  learning Sanscrit & English names for the poses, being introduced to various forms of yoga practice such as  Ashtanga, Yin, Restorative, to name a few.  We also had workshops on Anatomy & Physiology, Ayurveda and other topics related to Yoga, all by highly qualified presenters.
Teacher trainees go further in their own practice, learn to sequence & teach a variety of classes, learn proper techniques of assisting students in class, gaining knowledge & confidence.  Everyone in the program was wonderfully supportive.  The Training weekends were amazing.  The readings were interesting & stimulating.  Completing this training has had such a positive effect on me.  I highly recommend this program.  You will be so happy you enrolled.

Yoga Loft RYT class of 2017

"I love doing the TT at The Yoga Loft! The whole team is so knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone there is so supportive and I have a real feeling of community there.

I moved from out of state and went to over 10 yoga studios before I took a class with Jen. She makes classes fun, challenging and does great adjustments too! After going to the loft for a few months, I decided to take my TT there. I am learning so much about something I was already passionate about, and getting to meet other like minded people is great! The syllabus is very expansive and I am learning about anatomy, pranayama, sequencing, alignment as well as many different styles of yoga. I am a very new teacher of yoga, and I am so glad I can share my new knowledge with my own students. Through their training program, I am also gaining more self confidence and deepening my own personal practice, both on and off the mat.

I am going to miss our weekend trainings when it is over, but will continue to take classes there! All of the instructors I have met there are friendly and knowledgeable. It is great place to take your practice to the next level!"
-Debbie Messineo.

Yoga and the Yoga Loft have become one of the biggest elements in my life. Starting my practice in 2010 and looking back now, I never would have thought yoga could have transformed me the way it has mentally, spiritually and physically. The Yoga Loft North is my escape from reality to learn new things about myself and always feel welcome by the community Jen has created and has continued to prosper. Receiving my 200 hour certification was one of the best things I could have done. It made me realize the endless journey of continuous discovery of oneself as well as seeing the positive in others. I am so thankful to be apart of The Yoga Loft and excited to see its ongoing journey evolve.

No other Studio, or instructor can compare to the strength, the love, the compassion, the education, the commitment, the feeling of comradery I find with Jen Ryan and the Yogaloft.
Karen F.

After just one class at the Yoga Loft, I purchased a monthly pass and started practicing nearly every day. The Yoga Loft offers a welcoming vibe and sense of community that is unparalleled. During my first Friday night 108 minutes of power, I watched in awe as Jen, then nine months pregnant, led the class, offered helpful assists, provided demonstrations including an effortless eka pada bakasana, and encouraged us with good-will and humor. Even though I had only taken two classes with Jen before her maternity leave, when she returned she remembered my name. It is this personal touch that makes all the difference. Jen and all of the instructors at the Yoga Loft get to know their students both on and off the mat, which allows them to tailor classes to fit individual needs. After training at the Yoga Loft for a year, I began the 200 hour teacher training program. Although the training has been intense, I have felt supported, encouraged, challenged, and nurtured as I have deepened my practice, grown as both a student and a teacher, and come to know yoga as much more than just asana.

What some of our recent TT's have been telling us.....
Jen, this was truly a life changing experience for me and I can’t thank you enough! You, Greg, and our whole group of teacher trainees, are such amazing people -I loved getting to know everyone and I am so sad its coming to an end – but I am more eager than ever to continue to learn. The yoga loft will always hold a special place in my heart and I look forward to continuing there and growing my practice and maybe even filling in a few classes here and there J  I have never been to a studio that cares for its students the way you all do.  I was never put at a wall to practice ANYTHING until the yoga loft, and I have tried many different studios. Meg

I want to say that you, Jen, having so much enthusiasm and faith in us as students and teachers was helpful beyond words. You were so confident in us, in me, that I in turn felt confident! Encouraging us to just go teach either in training or a class at the studio was so helpful and so supportive. You are so welcoming and just becoming a part of this awesome yoga community is worth the training. Thank you!

Anyone who feels called to study yoga, must talk to Jen Ryan about the Yoga Teacher Training program she offers. Jen brings her whole being to her teaching; she embodies yoga on all levels. Her brilliance, generosity, compassion, teaching experience and many years of study and practice are evident from the first class of the Yoga Loft Teacher Training program. Yogic practice and philosophy itself is a beautiful but challenging body of knowledge; Jen makes the study of yoga accessible and provides a sanctuary at the Yoga Loft as she guides her students on the yogic teacher path. Much gratitude to you Jen!  Meet some of our present and past TT's at The Yoga Loft and ask them any questions you may have on our YTT program:)

I came to the program to further my Yoga practice, which up until then, was a mostly asana practice - a good exercise regimen. Whereas Jen's YTT program helped me strengthen my asana practice to a whole new level, the real benefits are the ones that sneaked in, sometimes unnoticed. :-)

Now as I look back, the real benefit of the program was that it opened a whole new world for me, with -
 - the sutras and their emphasis on the mind
 - reiki, Chakras and energy transfers which I'm still working on internalizing :-)
 - Ayurveda and healthy diet discussions,
 - the different types of yoga classes I tried out during the course, which I wouldn't have tried otherwise.
 - anatomy and how things worked internally in Yoga.
 - concept of a sangha - a community - which the class became.

Right from the beginning the yoga weekends became somethi
ng I would look forward to - even when I'd not finished my homework for the month :-) The withdrawal symptoms I talk about above are partly because there are no more yoga weekends to look forward to.

Back when looking at RYT programs, I'd looked at online options also. Having gone through the program now, I'm glad I picked a face-to-face program over the "do it at your own pace" convenience. For one I'd have missed out on the "sneak" benefits. And the interactive learning, occassionally with assists, is something you just cant reproduce online. Also in retrospect, I liked the pace of 1 weekend a month - it gave me time to absorb what I'd learnt.

Bottom line - unreservedly recommend Jen's YTT program. Go for it ... you will thank yourself!
